Crossing That Bridge

Life is in the fast lane around here!

Since hscamp, we have been so busy with soccer every night of the week except Wednesday, countless "worthy" field trips hither and yon, several truly-worthy gospel meetings, and my baby turning 5! (Happy Birthday, Lauren, our cheerful sweetheart!) I have barely cooked because dinner was on the run and a hurried affair most every night - it is a sad testament of your life when your least rushed meals together are in the van on the way to yet another scheduled event. Kelsey, my oldest, just said yesterday that she is ready to sit in her room and play again. Shame on me for feeling like I need to pick up my calendar and see if we can pencil that in. (Sorry, honey, but I do love to plan and it has been so necessary lately!)

Thankfully, we will be driving to St. George Island, FL, on Saturday and for one blissful week life will be slow again. For any who have never been there, you have to cross two very long bridges to reach the island. We always say crossing those bridges leaves the world behind. We walk on the beach and look for shells. We build sandcastles. We wade in the water. We throw frisbees and footballs. We put together puzzles which at home wouldn't appeal, but at the beach house, just fit. We read. We do watch some T.V. and movies, but generally as a family. We eat nearly every meal as a family. And yum, those meals! Tennessee seafood is usually shipped in from somewhere and "fresh" is a relative term. When we are in FL, you can taste fresh.

Hope you are all looking forward to some slow days in the weeks to come. They are the most precious times later when we look back, aren't they? Not all those busy moments when Mom is too stressed to be happy because we are running late to another ball game, or field trip.

Looking forward to crossing those bridges...... :-)
